Scenic Tennessee is a state wide all-volunteer organization dedicated to preserving and protecting the urban and rural scenic character of Tennessee. We provide expert opinion to municipalities large and small on issues that challenge the scenic public view.
Scenic Tennessee has developed Pride of Place: a comprehensive litter reduction and recycling program based on the Tennessee bottle bill. The bill will establish a return fee on glass and plastic beverage containers, thereby reducing litter and increasing recycling opportunities. Scenic Tennessee also provides information to communities experiencing a challenge to local sign ordinances from outdoor advertising industry electronic bill boards.
Scenic Tennessee is a state affiliate of the national organization Scenic America (www.scenic.org).
Scenic Tennessee’s first chapter, Scenic Knoxville, was organized in 2007 and has already had a significant impact on billboard issues in Knoxville.
Membership in Scenic Tennessee includes membership in Scenic Knoxville for members who are based in East Tennessee.
